The Cancer Research Economics Support Team (CREST) has been set up at the Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation (CHERE) within the University of Technology, Sydney, as part of the Cancer Australia Support for Clinical Trials program and the Boost Cancer Research Measure.
Cancer Research Economics Support Team
The Cancer Research Economics Support Team (CREST) will be developing a number of resources to assist the Cancer Collaborative Clinical Trials Groups in the incorporation of health and pharmaco-economic analyses into trial protocols, as well as to build capacity for health economics within the groups.
The Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation is a Research Strength of the University of Technology, Sydney, and is recognised nationally and internationally as a centre of excellence in health economics and health services research.
The Cancer Research Economics Support Team (CREST) recognises the challenge that Cancer Collaborative Clinical Trials Groups face in introducing health economics into clinical trial design and analysis.
We will liaise and communicate with Groups to establish clear expectations and provide high quality and timely advice, over time becoming a reliable and valued source of information and support for Trials Groups.
As well as working with individual Groups and on specific trials, CREST will take a broader view of cancer trials to explore the feasibility of greater consistency within and between Groups in terms of economic evaluation. By doing this, we hope to create opportunities to conduct cross‐trial investigations into broader research areas.
